Hoyu Sakuma’s Calligraphy Classroom

We provide careful instruction from the basics for everyone from children to adult beginners.

Guidance

For pencil lessons, I teach posture and grip in the first session. After that, I ask your child to follow my example and practice in his/her notebook. After correction, I will instruct them to review it again as homework.

For adults, you will practice in your notebook the sentences from a book of your choice.
Students up to high school age who wish to study brush strokes will study at the Japan Calligraphy Art Institute “Minna no Sho” (Calligraphy for Everyone). Adults who wish to study calligraphy will study in “Shodo Bijutsu” at Nihon Shodo Bijutsuin (Japan Calligraphy and Art Institute). Those who do not subscribe to “Shodo Bijutsu” can practice practical calligraphy, letter writing, etc.
