As I have become an interpreter of Sankouin, the nunnery near my home and classroom, I invited Sam to check the translation that our interpreters made.
Sankouin is famous for its vegetarian cuisine.
The menu in June includes the simmered plum fruit.
The taste is not too sour, not too sweet nor salty. It was the first time I ate it and could feel the blessings of nature. Sam said he liked it, too.
After the vegetarian cuisine, a Sumie painter Mr. Teisetsu Koyama drew red and white Japanese plum blossom on the Shikishi board that I had written a Zen word on in advance. It was a great collaboration!
Do you know how to draw red and white plum blossom in Sumie? Writing the outlines of blossom means white plum blossom.
Nowadays I’ve been asking to make TikToks when guests from abroad come to experience calligraphy to Izumi Tsukahara.
And I was asked by Sankouin to make brochures of calligraphy class of Zen words, so I asked Ms.Tsukahara to make one.
She made it using Canva.
As an English-speaking calligraphy teacher doing my best to keep up with IT, it was a great day to use my skills by helping career of a young lady.
